Kornit Digital develops manufactures and markets industrial and commercial printing solutions for the Garment, Apparel, and Textile industries. Kornit AMT (Additive Manufacturing Textiles), will be developing exciting chemistries, that will be integrated into Kornit’s flagship products, to provide an expanded set of capabilities to Kornit’s ever-expanding customer base.

Kornit AMT headquarters, in Somerville, MA, is seeking Applications Engineers.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Working closely with (1) with the hardware, applications and materials group to evaluate new materials and hardware on Voxel8 3D printing platform and using statistical process control and analytical approach to improve the print quality, uptime, print speed and reliability of our printing platform and (2) external customers to iterate on designs and functional prototypes on existing (particularly footwear focus) and new applications. Responsibilities include: 

• Creating material testing structures, orchestrating testing, and compiling and analyzing results;

• Running validation trials to define repeatability, performance, cost, and quality and drive continuous improvement;

• Develop solutions to address problems and work with hardware and the materials group to test and implement the solutions; 

• Orchestrating print testing on the 3D printer while compiling and analyzing results;

• Working closely with footwear and apparel designers and developers to prepare designs for digital printing, iterate on designs, and create limited production runs using Voxel8 printer;

• Employing project management skills to help build and drive development plans in an organized fashion;

• Aiding in the improvement of Voxel8 equipment and processes by leveraging industrial engineering principles and the creation of best practices; and

• Assist with the commissioning and troubleshooting of equipment whether at our site or customer sites

Required skills:

• Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a closely related field;

• Three (3) years of work experience with 3D printing and materials evaluation for 3D printing;

• Demonstrated ability to perform duties of applications engineer gained through at least one (1) year of work experience;

• Demonstrated knowledge of mechanical processes and materials associated with footwear or textile industry gained through at least one (1) year of work experience;

• Demonstrated ability to use and implement CAD gained through at least two (2) years of work experience;

• Demonstrated knowledge of process improvement skills including Lean Six Sigma, DOE, Gauge R&R, FMEA, SPC, and Continuous Improvement gained through at least one (1) year of work experience; and

• Demonstrated problem-solving skills involving hardware and materials gained through at least three (3) years of work experience.

(All years of experience may be gained concurrently.)

• Travel Requirement: 10% Domestic Travel and 10% International Travel
